Locally heavy rain likely Thursday night into Friday

A fast-moving storm will bring locally heavy rain to Rhode Island Thursday into Friday morning. Some areas may experience poor drainage and street flooding. Right Weather Chief Meteorologist Fred Campagna has the latest.

Showers Thursday afternoon will become steadier rain Thursday night into Friday as a storm moves from off Cape Hatteras, NC to Southern New England by Friday morning. Parts of Eastern CT had already received more than 4" of rain by mid-afternoon Thursday, leading to localized, serious flash flooding.

While most of RI will not see rain totals that high, there is the potential for the hardest hit areas to receive 2-3" of rain between Thursday afternoon and mid to late morning Friday when the storm departs.

Rightweather.com will have a Live Blog running throughout the event. The good news is the storm is a fast-mover, and the forecast is looking decent heading into the weekend.
