Photos: Mt. Hope Swim Team Honors Seniors
The Mt. Hope High School swim team honored their seniors last week.
For seniors on the swim team, the last home meet of their high school career was swam at Roger Williams University on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
The team's atheletes honored the seniors during the last home meet against Classic High School, presenting them with roses and cheering them on in their events with posters and banners displayed throughout the pool area. Eight swimmers will be graduating in 2012, including captains Brooke Pacheco, Sophia Andreadis, Kiley Quinn, Nicholas Andreadis, and Danny Toms. Seniors also include Micheala Implagliazzo, Spencer Dennis, and Nathan LaBonte.
"It's been my absolute pleasure being their coach - watching them grow and mature into these fabulous young men and women - full of strength, character, and confidence," said Coach Jonathan Dell. "Most of these seniors started on the swim team as small, shy freshman, unsure of where they fit into the team. None had any competitive swimming experience and all were terrified of any race over 100 yards or any stroke other than freestyle - but all have challenged their fears, mastered them, and taken on every event I threw at them."

To the seniors, Dell said, "You've come such a long way in, what to me, seems a very short time. I'm not sure if you realize how proud I am of you... The example you have set will echo throughout this team for years to come."
