Viewfinder: Fourth of July Concert Series Shines Through the Rain

Local residents withstood the rain to watch Band of Brothers perform during the first night of the Bristol Fourth of July Concert Series.

Wednesday evening's rain couldn't stop the Band of Brothers from playing at the Bristol Fourth of July Committee's kickoff to the 2011 concert series held at Independence Park.

While attendance was much lower than normal for the annual opening night, many Bristol and surrounding town residents wrapped up in ponchos, parked their lawn chairs under trees and held their umbrellas close during the concert.

"We're die-hard," said Deborah Peterson of Riverside. She and Hilda Connors of East Providence sat front and center of the stage clutching their umbrellas as they waited for the concert to start. "We come to all of the concerts, rain or shine."
