Wine, Silent Auction set to Support Fourth of July Celebration

The Bristol Fourth of July Committee is hosting its first annual wine tasting event. Proceeds to benefit the Bristol 4th of July Celebration

When the thousands of people who flock to Bristol to participate in or watch the Bristol Fourth of July parade leave town, many believe the Nation’s Oldest Fourth of July Celebration is done.

The parade may have ended but the celebration is far from over.

In fact, the Bristol Fourth of July Committee works year round to create exciting events that not only fundraise for the annual celebration, but bring the community together.

That’s why the Fourth of July Committee has decided to add another community engaging event to its long roster of family-friendly races, games, contests and other activities by adding an evening of wine tasting, to be held on Thursday, Sept. 17 at Linden Place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“The Bristol Fourth of July Committee’s Wine Tasting is truly a local event with local supporters coming together to sponsor the event with everything from the venue to various kinds of wines, food samplings and wine glasses,” said Patti Nenna, a member of the Bristol Fourth of July Committee who’s organizing the event.

Sponsors of the event include 1776, which is providing the various wines; Linden Place, which is supplying the venue; Atria Senior Living, with four Rhode Island locations in Barrington, Portsmouth, Lincoln and East Greenwich (Harbor Hill) which is sending three of its chefs to provide a unique culinary experience and St. Angelo Hardwoods Inc. of Tiverton, which is supplying the wine glasses.

“Even our host, Tim White, investigative reporter at WPRI/WNAC-TV, who is emceeing the event is from Bristol,” Nenna said. “We truly believe this will be an amazing community building event that not only helps to support our annual celebration, but really brings our community together for a night of fun.”

In addition to wine and food, the event will also feature a silent auction and raffles. Tickets are on sale now at $25 and can be purchased by contacting Patti Nenna at 401-261-7436.
