• RI Chronic School Absenteeism Falls for Fourth Year (upriseri.com) — Central Falls schools have sharply reduced chronic absenteeism, dropping from nearly half of students to just over one in five, reaching the lowest rate since statewide tracking began. State officials credit targeted attendance teams and data dashboards, but warn that about 20% of students statewide are still chronically absent, leaving ongoing work for Central Falls families and educators.
   

• Girls flag football to become RIIL sport this spring (independentri.com) — Central Falls High is among 16 schools set to offer girls flag football as a full varsity sport starting in spring 2027, with support from Nike and the NFL. The Rhode Island Interscholastic League's unanimous vote makes Rhode Island the first New England state to sanction the sport, and more schools may still join before schedules are finalized.
