Central Falls Man Pistol-Whipped Woman's Head, Fired Gun Over 'Parking Issue,' Cops say

The 19-year-old woman was treated for head injuries, police said.

CENTRAL FALLS, RI — A Central Falls man pistol-whipped a 19-year-old woman's head and fired the gun into the ground over a neighborhood "parking issue," police said.

Officers were sent to a residence on Garfield Street near Fuller Avenue Wednesday to investigate a report of an assault and shots fired, the Central Falls Police Department said in a media release.

"Upon arrival, officers located a 19-year-old female victim who reported that an argument with her 36-year-old male neighbor over a parking issue escalated into a physical assault," the release said.

The woman said the man "struck her several times with his hands and also struck her in the head with a firearm," according to the release.

"During the incident, the male discharged the firearm into
the ground before fleeing into his apartment," the release said.

"Officers quickly identified the male suspect and placed him under arrest without further incident," according to the release.

The woman was treated for head injuries, the release said.

The man was set for an arraignment on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, license or permit required for carrying a firearm, discharge of a firearm while committing a crime of violence, firing in a compact area and disorderly conduct, according to the release.
