• Ninigret Barrier Beach Restoration project works to revive coastal habitat (thewesterlysun.com) — Work is underway right now at Ninigret Barrier Beach in Charlestown to remove invasive plants, restore tidal creeks, and improve habitat while keeping East Beach open to visitors. Crews have already cleared Japanese black pines, native plants are rebounding, and beachgoers are asked to respect roped-off work zones and stay on designated sand trails as this multi‑year project continues through 2027.
