3-Month Spring Weather Forecast For RI: When Will It Warm Up?
See which spring months will be warm and rainy in Rhode Island and which will be colder.
RHODE ISLAND — Winter is likely to hang on in some parts of the country well past the March 20 spring equinox, while others will see an early arrival of warm temperatures, according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac’s 2023 spring weather forecast.
But as New England communities usually do, it looks like Rhode Island will see a mix of both, with some spring months having warmer temperatures than others.

March
March in Rhode Island isn't expected to stray far from the norm. Expect temperatures around average, which is 44 degrees. The warmest part of the month is expected to be March 21 to 25.

Precipitation is expected to be about four inches for the month, which is also average. The heaviest rain should come between March 18 and 20, according to the forecast.
April
In April, the average temperature in Rhode Island is expected to be 51, which is two degrees below average. As far as rain, except 2.5 inches, which is an inch below average.
May
In May, expect Rhode Island temperatures to be a couple degrees above average. A few more inches of rain than usual are also possible.
In general, the forecast calls for fairly mild temperatures in most places, but people who live in the Northwest shouldn’t retire their cold-weather gear for the season.
Temperatures are expected to be below normal in those regions, and people from the mid-Atlantic to the Appalachians to the Rockies also shouldn’t be surprised by late winter blasts of cold air, the forecast said.
Texas and Oklahoma, the Deep South and Florida are all expected to see warmer than usual temperatures.
People living in the Upper Midwest, the Appalachians and the Mid-Atlantic should be prepared for above-normal precipitation. Rainfall is expected to be normal to above normal in many other parts of the country, including Oklahoma and Texas.
However, the forecast calls for below normal rain in Southern California and the Southwest.
