Coventry HS Senior Awarded $20K Scholarship By KFC Foundation

COVENTRY, RI — A Coventry High School senior and KFC employee was awarded a $20,000 KFC Foundation Scholarship to help further her education.
Bailey Borkowski works at the KFC on Tiogue Avenue in Coventry. She plans to use the scholarship to attend Brown University, where she will study biology on her path to becoming a physician, according to a media release.
"Inspired by her mother’s courageous journey to the United States in search of opportunity, Bailey has grown up with a deep appreciation for sacrifice, resilience and the pursuit of something greater," the release said.

Through April, the KFC Foundation is granting more than 300 KFC restaurant employees nationwide a total of $2 million in scholarships, according to the release.
"Bailey is one of only 11 to receive the top $20,000 award based on a personal essay and demonstrated financial need," the release said. "Since its inception in 2012, the program has awarded over $25 million in scholarships to more than 8,500 KFC restaurant employees."
