Coventry Police & Fire Receive $5,000 Grant
The money will be used to educate the public about opioid overdoses.

From Coventry PD: "Coventry Police and Fire have been continuing to work hard to save lives fighting the crippling opioid epidemic that is killing users and even injuring people who are not using opioids. Jointly we have submitted a comprehensive plan to the State of Rhode Island specific to our community to help curb this problem and continue our effort to save lives.
We are pleased to announce we have been awarded $5,000 in grant funding to hold a public seminar to educate EVERYONE as to what an overdose looks like, how to stay safe near an overdose emergency, and how to properly administer Narcan. We are working get the word out for this seminar, and some of the grant funding will help purchase Narcan kits that will be placed prominently in public locations. Individuals suffering from this problem will also be provided an avenue for long term care.
This is a problem that can effect anyone. Young, old, male, female, and even unsuspecting pets can all be affected by this problem. We are taking this seriously and are going to and continue to work to save lives. "
