The 16th annual American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is being held today, October 30, 2011 at Roger Williams Park, 1000 Elmwood Ave, Providence.
Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the rolling walk set to start between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The walk will be 3.2 miles.
Along with walk participants, volunteers are needed to help set up and clean up, cheer on walkers, and act as route monitors.

Since its inception in 1993, nearly seven million walkers nationwide have raised more than $400 million to help fight breast cancer. In 2010 alone, more than 800,000 walkers across the country collected more than $60 million to support the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back.
