Where/When: Coventry High School and parade route; Friday and Saturday
Why Go: Homecoming weekend begins today with the annual semi-formal Homecoming dance at CHS from 7-10 p.m. On Saturday, the parade begins at its new starting point at 11 a.m. and will travel throughout town and at 4 p.m., the Oakers will take on Warwick Vets during the football game!

Where/When: Broad Street Bridge in Pawtuxet Village on the Warwick/Cranston line; Friday, 10 a.m.
Why Go: Come celebrate the restoration of the Pawtuxet River at this event that will feature an invocation to the River and blessing for the return of the fish runs by the Narragansett Indian Tribe, speeches by local dignitaries and canoeists and kayakers using the new "Blueways" trail.

3.) Tiogue Playground Community Event Yard Sale
Where/When: (170 East Shore Dr.); Saturday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Why Go: Come enjoy live music, food, face painting, balloon animals, a 50/50 raffle, brick engraving and of course, shopping. All proceeds go towards improving the school's playground to meet ADA standards.

4.) Home Depot Fire Safety Day
Where/When: Home Depot (700 Centre of New England Blvd.); Saturday, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Why Go: Bring the kids to see fire and rescue vehicles, a Red Cross truck, Lifestar helicpoter, D-MATT, National Guard and "Sparkie" the robotic dog. There will also be kid's workshops, police department events and more.

5.) Maxwell Mays Wildlife Refuge Opening
Where/When: 2082 Victory Hwy.; Saturday, 2 p.m.
Why Go: The Audubon Society of Rhode Island is scheduled to hold an opening of the Maxwell Mays Wildlife Refuge today. Guided walks of the trails will be offered by Audubon naturalists and light refreshments will be served. Please register by sending an e-mail to: jhall@asri.org.

6.) 2nd Annual Heritage Day
Where/When: Paine House Museum (7 Station St.); Sunday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Why Go: Stop by to tour the Paine House, shop at the farmer's market and enjoy a Providence Brigade Band concert at 2 p.m. The Byron Read House () and the Read School House will also be open for tours from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Crafters and food court will be set up at the and the will be collecting canned goods for the food bank. A bus tour will also begin at 1 p.m.
