Health Inspections: Violations at Senior Center, Gas Station

The Rhode Island Health Department noted violations at the following Coventry establishments in August and September:

Coventry Senior Center, 50 Wood St., Coventry. The Health Department noted the following violations during an inspection on Sept. 30:

  • Wet wiping cloths are not stored in a chemical sanitizer between uses. Wet wiping cloths must be stored in a chemical sanitizer at the appropriate concentration.
  • Sponges used at the 3 bay sink. Disposed of by the PIC.
  • The dish washing machine did not reach a sanitizing temperature as evidence by a thermo-strip test. Machine must be serviced to ensure proper sanitizing temperature of 180 degrees F prior to use.
Coventry Shell, 642 Washington St., Coventry. The Health Department noted the following violations during an inspection on Aug. 16:
  • Eggs are store on the top shelf, over milk and other ready to eat food items in the walk-in cooler. 
  • Staff failed to sanitize equipment and utensils after washing and rinsing them. PIC indicated that the coffee and ice tea dispenser food contact surfaces were not sanitized after washing and rinsing.

  • A box with sandwiches is stored on the floor in the walk-in. Food must be stored at least 6 inches above the floor.
  • The nonfood-contact surfaces of the walk-in ceiling and shelving have an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue and other debris.
Coventry Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, 10 Woodland Drive, Coventry. The Health Department noted the following violations during an inspection on Oct. 3:
  • Pasta stored in the walk in at 7:30 a.m., was not cooled to 70 degrees in 2 hours (9:30 temp was 73-83*F). 
  • Various food items were held at 43 degrees. Potentially hazardous food must be held at 41 degrees F or below except during preparation, cooking or cooling. Walk-in refrigeration temperatures were 43 degrees F.
