Iris Paper Folding Workshop

Iris folding dates back

centuries to women in Holland who took the insides of printed envelopes and

folded them into strips, layering them in patterns that appeared to be in the

shape of the iris of an eye. These stripes are centered around an opening based

on several shapes; triangle, square, or hexagon and placed behind an open

aperture. Following a simple pattern, most anyone or any age group can do it.

The end result is a beautiful textural expression that can be used for cards,

scrapbooking or even framed pictures.  It

is just the beginning of where this art form can take you. One small class can

open worlds of creative possibilities.

Our instructor, Tracy Taylor, is an artist creating in

many mediums including watercolor and acrylic. She has taught the art of Iris

Folding in many venues and to numerous age groups. She believes in old

fashioned ways of creating from what you have on-hand, which fits nicely into

today’s consciousness to up-cycle. $20.00
