New Deputy Sheriff Is From Coventry

From the Rhode Island Department of Public Safety: Colonel Ann C. Assumpico, Director of the Rhode Island Department of Public Safety, and Chief Sheriff David M. DeCesare announce that nine new deputy sheriffs were sworn in to fill vacancies within the Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs.

They are among 21 men and women who graduated from the Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs Training Academy Class of 2017 last fall after completing an intensive voluntary training program that included six weeks of physical training and classes that covered many aspects of policing and corrections.

Chief Sheriff DeCesare said he was thankful for the decision to hire these deputies, saying: “All nine of these deputies are well-trained and highly motivated to begin their duties. We will be providing them with a quick refresher on the aspects of their jobs that they learned in the academy last fall and put them on the front lines as quickly as practical.”

The new deputies are: Jeffrey P. Cahoon, Robert W. Fontaine, Sean M. Hannon, Nicodemus G. Manzotti, Andrew J. McDaniel, Christopher W. Miller, Ian M. Quinn Devan J. Seddon and Edward Papineau, Jr.,

They began work, starting with a Field Officer Training Program. After completing that program, they will be used to bolster staffing levels in the Providence courthouses.
