• Coventry Woman Charged With Animal Cruelty: Cops (patch.com) — Coventry residents are learning more about a neglected Shih Tzu found severely underweight and matted on MacArthur Boulevard, whose condition was so bad his rear legs were effectively tied together. Police say the dog is now recovering with Animal Control, while a 57-year-old Coventry woman faces an animal-cruelty charge and locals are invited to consider adopting the dog.
   

• 30-year-old Rhode Island father of two young children killed in motorcycle crash (fallriverreporter.com) — A 30-year-old Coventry father of two died after a serious motorcycle crash near the Verizon Wireless store on Centre of New England Boulevard, despite emergency transport to Rhode Island Hospital. Coventry Police and their accident reconstruction team are investigating, while family members have launched a fundraiser to help cover his funeral and burial expenses.
   

• Algae advisories lifted at Lake Tiogue, Oak Swamp Reservoir (turnto10.com) — Recreational activities are once again allowed at Lake Tiogue in Coventry after state health and environmental officials found algae levels and toxins had dropped to safe levels. Residents should still avoid water that looks like green paint or pea soup and report any suspicious blooms with photos to the state's Office of Water Resources.
