The problem is, the service is not available in all areas. In fact, according to the AAA website, clubs in only 17 states are offering the free rides home and no programs in the New England region make the list.

An additional "AAA Justice Link" website lists outside resources aimed at reducing drunk driving, including cab companies and private organizations that will give you a lift in your own car. Although Massachusetts has a few such programs (Safe Ride Solutions in Norfolk and Suffolk,) Rhode Island is not mentioned.
So if you plan to drink this New Year's Eve, remember to secure your own safe ride home before heading out. Plan a designated driver or, in Woonsocket, call at 762-5000. The affordable local cab service will be open until 3 a.m. New Year's Eve.
