A 5k race to benefit Save One Soul Animal Rescue League (SOSARL) will take place on Sunday, October 16th at Slater Memorial Park in Pawtucket, RI. Called the Crate Escape, the race will start at 9:00 am from the Daggett Farm parking area. Race day registration opens at 8:00 am. Registration before October 14th is $30; it is $35 after that date. Based in Rhode Island, SOSARL is a non-profit animal rescue organization that rescues dogs locally and across the country from no-kill and high-kill shelters, puppy mills and owner surrenders. Formed in July, 2014, SOSARL has had over 1400 dogs adopted in homes throughout New England.

According to Heidi Durand-Lenz, an SOSARL co-founder, “This is the first 5k race that we have held. We hope that this will become an annual event and a signature fundraising opportunity.” Emma Dawley, the other co-founder, adds, “SOSARL is composed of dedicated volunteers with a big vision. It is not a shelter, but a volunteer-driven foster based dog rescue organization.”
