Santa Takes His Fire Truck Tour Through Coventry on Sunday
Several of Coventry's fire districts will help Santa greet local families — an annual tradition.

Santa’s annual tradition of hopping aboard a fire truck and visiting Coventry neighborhoods continues on Sunday, Dec. 21, though he won’t be making the rounds in the Central Coventry Fire District due to ongoing financial issues — for now.
But Santa, undeterred, will still be making stops in the Western Coventry and Hopkins Hill fire districts. As of Thursday, it was still unclear if the Anthony Fire District had plans to give Santa a fire truck tour of that district.
In the Western Coventry fire district, Santa will be riding the district’s Engine 9 and will be at Western Coventry Elementary School at 5 p.m., the Greene Public Library at 5:30 p.m. and the Western Coventry Fire Station on Route 102 at 6 p.m.

Officials in the Hopkins Hill district said Santa will begin his tour of the district at around noon. Last year, they began in the Mishnock area.
In the Central Coventry Fire District, Santa will not be making the rounds for now. This past Sunday, a union representative said on Facebook that there has been no determination to do it or not. But union firefighters are trying.

“The union firefighters want to do it and we truly enjoy doing it but with everything going on in each district we are not sure if we are going to be able to. It’s complicated to pull off right now but we are trying,” the official said.
