COVENTRY, RI — Tropical Storm Henri carved a path across Rhode Island Sunday, leaving thousands without power and streets flooded along the coast. In Coventry, about half of the town's residents lost power, while several roads were partially or fully closed by downed trees, wires and other debris.

The town's Public Works Department encouraged residents with Monday pickup to avoid putting their trash and recycling carts out at the curb for pickup until the morning, to keep carts from blowing around overnight. Trash pickup begins at 7 a.m.

As of 2 p.m., approximately 7,700 Coventry residents were without power, 48 percent of the town's 16,000 residents, town officials said.
