203 New Cases Of Coronavirus In Rhode Island; 11 Deaths

PROVIDENCE, RI — The Rhode Island Department of Health reported 203 new cases of the coronavirus Friday and 11 deaths. To date, there have been 12,219 cases total and 479 deaths.

As of Friday, 272 people were hospitalized. Of those, 53 were in intensive care units and 41 were on ventilators. The number of people hospitalized in the state has held steady in past weeks, declining slowly from a peak of 372 on April 28.

"At this point I feel we are more than holding our own as a state," Gov. Gina Raimondo said Thursday. "I want you to feel confident that we are on the road to recovery. We will get there. The pain will be temporary."
