All in a Name: Lucky Mart Sells $50,000 Winning Lotto Ticket

A man from Youngstown, OH, was in Rhode Island visiting friends and family for Easter when his aunt put a lottery ticket in his basket.

Lucky Mart in Cranston is pretty lucky after all.

The Oaklawn Avenue gas station and convenience store sold a $50,000 winning lottery ticket to a woman who stuck it in her nephew’s Easter bag on Sunday.

That man, Robert Prodnick Jr., of Youngstown, OH, thought he won $2,000 at first.

Prodnick was in town to celebrate the holiday with family and friends. It was also his nephew’s first birthday.

The family had all gathered for an Easter brunch when the aunt passed out Easter bags to all the adults.

Prodnick’s bag included a Super Crossword instant ticket.

When he thought he had won $2,000, he announced he’d buy lunch for everyone.

“But when he found out it was really $50,000, he thought he was going to have a heart attack,” the Rhode Island Lottery Commission said in a release. “His plans for the money now include paying off his car, buying his nephew a very nice first birthday gift, and putting the rest in the bank.”

Nearby, in Warwick, a man recently won $27,080 playing the Numbers game after his daughter had a dream.

The lottery commission said that the daughter saw the numbers 1-1-3-7 in her dream and the father used those numbers to make a $5 combo bet using that number for Friday night’s drawing.

That ticket was bought at Rumi Wine and Spirits in Providence and the winner said he’s going to use the winnings to renovate his daughter’s bathroom.

It pays to dream about winning the lottery, it seems, though it helps when you get the numbers right.
