Coventry Man Jailed After Traffic Stop: Cops (patch.com) — Cranston drivers may have noticed police activity Sunday morning on Reservoir Avenue, where state police pulled over and arrested a 46-year-old Coventry man. Troopers say he was charged with forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates, then held on a parole board warrant and taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions.
2. Fire breaks out at Cranston home (wpri.com) — Firefighters are battling a house fire on Grand Avenue in Cranston this afternoon, with nearby roads blocked as crews work the scene. It's not yet clear if any residents were hurt, though one firefighter was seen taken away on a stretcher. Neighbors reported visible flames from the side of the home as officials continue their response.
3. Rhode Island tops nation in fire spending, report finds (wpri.com) — Cranston is among Rhode Island communities where public safety now eats nearly 60% of non-school spending, with fire overtime overrunning the budget by about $1.5 million a year. A new report says Rhode Island leads the nation in per-resident fire costs despite relatively low fire and crime risk, raising questions about staffing, pensions, and overtime practices.
4. CODAC brings medical van to Wood River Health to treat opioid addiction (pbn.com) — Cranston residents struggling with opioid addiction already have a CODAC treatment site in the city, and the organization is now expanding services with a new mobile van in Hopkinton. The unit offers methadone, buprenorphine, counseling, and basic health checks, aiming to reach people who can't easily travel to fixed clinics in Cranston, Providence, Warwick, or Newport.
