Apartment Complex Evacuated after Grenade Found

Farmington Terrace was evacuated Thursday after investigators at the scene of a suspicious death earlier this week found an inactive grenade.

Police and firefighters were dispatched to the apartment complex at around 2:26 p.m. after investigators found the grenade in the apartment of John Fiore, 55, who was found dead with apparent stab wounds in what police are classifying as a possible homicide.

Meanwhile police have recovered Fiore’s car, which went missing from the scene and has been sought for possible evidence related to his death. It was discovered in Johnston less than two miles from the home of Louis Sinapi, 53, who is a person of interest in Fiore’s death and was arrested on Tuesday on unrelated charges.

Sinapi was released from Rhode Island Hospital on Friday after treatment for a gash to his hand, among other injuries. He has been ordered held at the Adult Correctional Institutions as a probation violator after being arraigned on charges of obstruction of justice. He is due to appear in Providence Superior Court on Monday.
