Bob's Discount Furniture Donates $1,000 to Woodridge Elementary

Woodridge was one of seven schools in Rhode Island that got a donation from the company this month.

When people get a coffee at Bob's Discount Furniture, they sometimes throw a buck or two into the donation jars. Otherwise, the java is free.

Those dollars add up over time and this month, the company has been handing out $1,000 checks to area elementary schools to fund arts and education programs.

This week, Woodridge Elementary was paid a visit from company representatives who brought along a $1,000 donation.

“Our monthly school donations are a great way for us to show our appreciation to the communities that support our stores,” said Cathy Poulin, public relations director, Bob’s Discount Furniture. “We hope the funds will help these Rhode Island schools add to education and arts programs for the students.”

Every month, Bob’s randomly selects seven schools in the communities near its stores and makes a donation of $1,000 to each one. This month, Bob’s Discount Furniture is supporting education and arts programs in Rhode Island with the cash awards. Bob’s has donated money to hundreds of schools over the past 20 years. Previous recipients have used the donations for such things as purchasing new art and classroom supplies, funding student activity groups and going on field trips.
