Cadence Science Seeks Tax Incentives for Major Expansion

The Cranston-based manufacturer of precision medical devices is looking to build a 34,000 square foot addition to its facility and hire 150.

A manufacturer of precision medical devices and speciality blades, Cadence Science, is looking for a 10-year tax incentive program to help them with a $3.8 million expansion that they say will bring 150 new jobs to western Cranston.

The City Council on Monday will review the application by the company to take advantage of the city’s 10-year industrial tax incentive program, which would let Cadence Science pay the estimated $35,000 additional tax bill brought on by the new construction in 10 percent increments each year totaling $3,500 per year.

In a letter to the City Council, Lawrence J. DiBoni, director of the city’s Division of Economic Development, said the incentive program is committed to attracting and retaining businesses and professional jobs and is fully in support of the plan.
