Think about it: when was the last time you wore your graduation robe? Chances are, it's been hanging in the back of your closet since graduation day, never to be worn again. In an effort to save money, resources, and, yes, closet space, the Community College of Rhode Island has started collecting graduation robes after commencement to be given to next year's graduates, free of charge.

Following this year's commencement ceremony at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Thursday, graduates are encouraged to drop their graduation robes into a bin at the campus store table, on a completely voluntary basis. All donated robes will be distributed to members of next year's graduating class, free of charge. At CCRI, new caps and gowns cost students $25.

More information on commencement is available on CCRI's website.
