Celebrate Holiday Religious Traditions In Newport Dec. 23
Houses of worship across the city will open their doors to the public and share their holiday traditions.
NEWPORT, RI — The public is invited to celebrate a variety of holiday traditions in historic houses of worship across Newport next week. On December 23, nine churches and synagogues across the city will be open.
Newport, known as the "cradle of religious liberty in America," has a rich religious history, including the Touro Synagogue, which is the oldest in the country. Through the end of the year, Rhode Island residents can tour the historic building, which dates back to 1763, for free.
The following houses of worship will be open to the public from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. to share their holiday traditions.
