Joseph DeLorenzo, chairman of the board of canvassers, resigned from the board after he refused to sign Woodmansee's ballot. He said he would not take part in a process that let the convicted murderer vote. His resignation came after the state elections board director said that he could be prosecuted for hindering the voting process.

Woodmansee was released from jail last year after being released early from his 40-year sentence for good behavior. He has been voluntarily committed to Eleanor Slater Hospital since.
