RI Sees Largest Single-Day Increase In Coronavirus Cases
The Rhode Island Department of Health reported 412 new cases of the coronavirus in the state and eight additional deaths.
PROVIDENCE, RI — More than 400 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Rhode Island Thursday, the largest single-day increase to date. Eight additional deaths were announced as well, bringing the death toll to 189.
According to the Rhode Island Department of Health, the cumulative number of cases is now 6,256 with the addition of the latest 412. At this time, 267 people are hospitalized, with 72 in intensive care units and 45 on ventilators.
To better serve Providence and Pawtucket, the Department of Health has opened walk-up test sites in both cities for residents who may not have access to a vehicle. The latest was opened at the former Memorial Hospital. To request an appointment, call 401-CARENOW.
