The 10-year-old boy, who was riding in the back seat, was out of the car and walking around when first responders arrived at the scene and it is believed he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Police said they were investigating whether the driver was impaired.

Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that the 10-year-old boy was treated at Hasbro Children's Hospital and released due to a misstatement from the Cranston police. The child on Tuesday was still at the hospital being treated for serious internal injuries.
