Cranston League for Cranston's Future Wins Basketball Tourney

The Travel team won the Martin Luther King/ East Greenwich RI Youth Basketball Association tournament, the league reports.

CRANSTON, RI — The Cranston League for Cranston's Future sent the sixth grade TRAVEL team into a state tournament recently. The youngsters won five games in a row at the East Greenwich Dr. Martin Luther King RIYBA state basketball tournament.

Their hard work paid off in a championship.

They're currently the top team in the state.

CLCF beat Coventry 38-23 on Jan. 16 in a 9 a.m. game. An hour later, they dispatched West Warwick 51-35 and then at 1 p.m. they squeaked by South Kingstown (Brock) 56-54 to become the Boys Sixth Grade Champs. To get into the brackets, they also defeated Cumberland/Lincoln 44-34 and East Greenwich/ Amelotte 40-13.
