Cranston Man Killed In Paramotor Aircraft Crash
The paramotor crashed at Myricks Airport.
BERKLEY, MA — A Cranston man was killed in a paramotor aircraft crash.
Gary Williams, 63, crashed and was killed at Myricks Airport in Berkley Sunday morning, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

"The Myricks Airport is a large open field where single engine aircraft can both take off and land from a grass runway," the district attorney's office said in a media release.
A paramotor is the generic name for the harness and propulsive portion of a powered paraglider.

"Paragliders and paramotors can also launch and land by foot from the airfield," the release said.
The Berkley Police Department received a 911 call about 9:40 a.m. Saturday from a witness to the crash, according to the release.

"Upon arrival Berkley Police and EMS located a large divot in the field closest to Padelford Street," the release said.
A mortally-injured Williams was found about 15 to 20 feet from the divot, according to the release, and he was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

"Police were also directed to the damaged single-seat paramotor operated by the decedent," the release said. "The paramotor was observed by police to have fuel leakage and a propeller that was broken in multiple locations."
