Cranston Man Once Again Charged With Breaking And Entering
John J. Sarandrea is accused of breaking into a Greene Avenue home while an underage girl was home, police said.
CRANSTON, RI — A Cranston man who police say has a long criminal history was charged with breaking and entering. John J. Sarandrea, 50, of Alto Street, broke into a house when a young girl was home, police said.
According to police, Sarandrea broke into a house on Greene Avenue in Cranston around 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 9. A girl who was in the house ran outside to a safe location. Sarandrea reportedly stole several items from the house and ran away before police arrived.
Using video from nearby surveillance cameras, police were able to identify Sarandrea and his black Ford Escape. He was arrested and police were able to recover several of the stolen items, though a few including jewelry are still missing. Sarandrea has a "long" criminal record, police said. He has been charged with breaking and entering in several other towns and is a probation violator on previous charges. He was arraigned in Kent County District Court and is set to appear in court again for a parole violation hearing on Oct. 24.
