CRANSTON, RI — A Cranston man was sentenced to two years in federal prison after pleading guilty to attempting to have sex with a minor. 36-year-old Raymond Gliottone will serve 24 months in prison followed by 10 months of supervised release.
Gliottone was arrested by Homeland Security Investigations agents in November 2018 as he was planning to travel to Maine to meet up with a 15-year-old girl, whom he planned to bring back to Rhode Island to have sex with. He and the girl had been talking to each other online for several weeks before he was arrested.
According to court documents, one of the girl's family members found the messages along with explicit photos she and Gliottone had sent each other. When the family member confronted Gliottone, he said he believed the girl to be 20 years old.
