RI Man Spills Wet Cement Onto Road, Causing 2-Hour Traffic Delay: PD

Police said Joseph Ruiz, 33, drove away after spilling the cement on a road in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

CRANSTON, RI — A Cranston man was arrested Thursday after police said he spilled wet cement onto a road in Dartmouth, Massachusetts and drove away, causing the road to be closed for two hours.

Around 10:45 a.m., Dartmouth police were called to State Road at Arcadia Avenue after receiving reports of wet cement in the road. When officers arrived, they learned the vehicle responsible for the spill left the scene, police said.

Police said they learned the vehicle drove towards UMass Dartmouth, where they eventually found it. Police identified the driver as Joseph Ruiz, 33.

Ruiz was arrested after officers learned he had two outstanding warrants for motor vehicle infractions, according to police.

As a result of the spill, traffic on State Road needed to be detoured for two hours, while crews worked to clear the road.
