Cranston: Shooting On Frances Avenue Early Friday
News sources are reporting a man was shot on Frances Avenue early Friday morning and police brought out a K-9 to search for suspects.

CRANSTON, RI — News sources overnight reported a man was shot on Frances Avenue early Friday morning. He was taken to a hospital. Police brought out a K-9 to search for suspects.
Police have confirmed it was a drive-by shooting.
"The Cranston Police Department received a 911 call for the report of a person shot at 46 Frances Ave.," Maj. Todd Patalano said. "Officers located one male victim who sustained a non-life threatening gun-shot wound to his left hip and was subsequently transported to RI Hospital for treatment. The victim and a potential witness were uncooperative and provided very few details about the incident. A witness known to the victim stated an unknown vehicle drove by 46 Frances Ave., and an unidentified suspect fired a weapon from the vehicle. It is believed that this was an isolated incident and the victim was the target of the shooting and may be gang related. Cranston Police officers along with K9 units made a thorough check of the area and no suspects were located. At this time the Cranston Police Department Special Investigations Unit and BCI Divisions responded to the scene to investigate. The name of the victim is not being released."
