The 26-year-old woman suffered head injuries, police said.
CRANSTON, RI — A 26-year-old Cranston woman suffered serious head injuries in an ATV wreck, police said.
The woman was a passenger on a 2014 Honda TRX 450R ATV operated by a 28-year-old Providence man when it crashed shortly after midnight Saturday on Wellington Avenue just north of the Route 10 overpass, the Cranston Police Department said in a media release.
"Investigators determined that the ATV entered a section of Wellington Avenue that was closed to vehicular traffic due to ongoing bridge construction associated with Route 10," the release said. "The ATV subsequently traveled back toward the area of the road closure and struck a road-closed sign, along with several traffic barrels and other roadway markers placed across the southbound lane. The impact caused both occupants to be thrown from the ATV."
