Ethan Allen Coming to Garden City Center

The store will occupy a 6,000 square foot space near LA Fitness.

A new Ethan Allen showcase store will be opening in Garden City Center this fall.

The Wilder Companies, which manages the popular destination shopping center in Cranston, said that the new store will occupy 6,000 square feet of space near LA Fitness.

“This new Ethan Allen showcase will offer the full breadth of services and offerings Ethan Allen is known for, including design consultants equipped with the technology to show clients how to create the right look in their home – a look that is custom made for them,” a press release stated.

“To us, the appeal of Garden City Center is that it offers more than just shopping,” said Amy Franks, Ethan Allen’s vice president, Northeast Region. “The community events and outdoor concerts make this an ideal location for Ethan Allen to have a presence in the community.”

The new store in Cranston will replace the company’s store in Warwick.

The store is part of Garden City Center’s ongoing expansion and renovation of the plaza, which began several years ago in the northern half of the shopping center and has steadily worked south with new traffic patterns, new landscaping, a new building housing Pottery Barn and offices, among other improvements.

The southern half of the shopping center just a few years ago was a relatively barren swath of parking lot next to the hulking shells of a former Circuit City and a bankrupted Borders Books. It stood in stark contrast to the bustling and upscale pedestrian-friendly feel of the northern half, which has consistently drawn high-end retailers.

Today, the southern half has sidewalks, trees and a bevy of new business activity.

The new Ethan Allen store is a “key part” in the third-phase of the ongoing redevelopment, said Deb DiMeo, vice president of leasing for the Wilder Companies.

““Ethan Allen’s style of livable luxury and design makes Garden City Center a destination experience that will attract shoppers seeking unique home furnishing and design options.”

The Wilder Companies already announced that New Balance and Barrington Books will be opening in the same area in the near future.
