Harvey Robbins Brings Doo-Wop, Burlesque to Park Theatre

The Las Vegas style show will bring a raucous time to the Park Theatre this Saturday.

You don't always have to go to Las Vegas to see exotic burlesque dancers, listen to Doo-Wop, barbershop quartets and hear music from the legends: James Brown, Elvis, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner.

Just head to the night and Harvey Robbins, a producer who puts on shows in Las Vegas, Foxwoods Casino and other towns, will put out all the stops to make sure what happens in Cranston stays in Cranston this weekend.

"It brings something for everyone—good fun, great music, dance, doo-wop, 1950s music, comedy and exotically beautiful burlesque dancers," Robbins said.

Along for the ride is Tony Funches, former lead singer for Herb Reed's Platters, who will sing many of the Platters' hits like "My Prayer," "The Great Pretender," "Only You," and "Smoke Gets in your Eyes."

Las Vegas Miss Exotic World Burlesque Queen Angie Pontani will also be on hand. She's a winner of the Miss Exotic World title.

The show was conceptualized to be an "old time variety show like you never get anymore," Robbins said.

Robbins is president and founder of the Doo-Wopp Hall of Fame America, which had its annual induction and concert at Symphony Hall in Boston.

He hopes this will be the first of many shows at the Park Theatre.
