Hold the Phone: Local YMCA Receives Grant to Upgrade Emergency Systems

The Taco/ White Family Foundation is providing $2,000 to make the upgrades.

CRANSTON, RI – The Y's Cranston branch has come into a little bit of money. According to the YMCA of Greater Providence, Cranston has received a $2,000 grant from the Taco/White Family Foundation.

The money will be used to upgrade the YMCA branch’s phone system, the organization said. The goal is "seamless communication throughout the building should an emergency occur."

As a plus, the grant will also save the Cranston Y nearly $1,000 per year in management fees of the current, outdated system.
