In an Irish Mood? Celtic Tenors Coming to Park Theatre

They’ve captivated audiences throughout the UK, Europe and the United States since arriving on the international music scene in 2000, and on Friday, October 10, The Celtic Tenors will bring their eclectic repertoire and re-worked popular songs to the historic Park Theatre in Cranston.

Direct from Ireland, The Celtic Tenors are a three-man vocal group that includes Matthew Gilsenan, James Nelson and Daryl Simpson. What began as three talented friends gathering on the operatic stage has since exploded into a recording and touring phenomenon that transcends the trio’s classical roots and embraces folk, pop and various other dimensions of the musical spectrum.

The only tenor group with a truly global audience, The Celtic Tenors will give you a night to remember. Whether playing a neighborhood cathedral or a major concert hall in cities such as New York, Amsterdam or Shanghai, concertgoers are assured a sparkling performance. The group genuinely loves what they do and it shines through in each rendition of beautiful Celtic songs like the haunting “Danny Boy” and exhilarating opera classics like “Nessun Dorma.”

Throughout their career, The Celtic Tenors have been invited to perform with some of the world’s leading orchestras, including The Toronto Symphony, the Cincinnati Pops, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Currently in the studio recording a new album, the group’s previous release, Feels Like Home, celebrated the uplifting music of Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales—while borrowing a few songs from other cultures along the way.

“We cross a lot of borders when we travel, but we find that people all over the world are similar in many ways,” says the group’s James Nelson. “Almost everyone is open to good music and an uplifting message.”
