MA Man Charged In RI After Being Caught With 3 Pounds Of Meth: Feds

The crystal meth was found inside a small cooler by DEA agents from Rhode Island and Boston, prosecutors said.

RHODE ISLAND — A Massachusetts man was arrested and charged in Rhode Island after federal agents caught him with more than three pounds of crystal methamphetamine, the U.S. Attorney's Office said Tuesday.

Hector Gonzalez Michel, 31, of Lawrence, was charged in federal court in Providence on Friday with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances in excess of 500 grams and distribution of controlled substances in excess of 500 grams.

According to court documents, Rhode Island's DEA Task Force learned Michel was preparing to deliver methamphetamine to a drug supplier in Boston.

Agents from both Rhode Island and Boston, as well as Boston police, found Michel outside a Boston home, where he was supposed to deliver the drugs, prosecutors said. Authorities said they seized 3.4 pounds of crystal methamphetamine inside a small cooler.
