Nardolillo Sentenced to 15 Years at ACI

Joseph Nardolillo, 43, of Warwick, broke into two homes in the Woodridge neighborhood in September. In one incident, he knocked a woman to the floor and fled after she discovered the B&E in progress.

Joseph Nardolillo β€” the Warwick man who was arrested in November after two break-ins and assaulting a person 60 or older β€” pleaded no contest and was sentenced this week by Providence Superior Court Judge Daniel A. Procaccini to 15 years at the Adult Correctional Institutions.

Seven years of the 15-year sentence are suspended, which means Nardolillo will spend about eight years in jail.

β€œI am pleased with the sentence that was handed down in these cases.Β  The brazen criminal activity by Mr. Nardolillo created unrest in the community, but now, they can be secure in the knowledge that he will be in jail for quite some time," said Cranston Police Major Robert W. Ryan.

Police said Nardolillo, 43, of 127 Strawberry Field Road, Warwick, was arrested in November for two Sept. 29 break-ins in the Woodridge section of the city, in one of which he allegedly knocked a woman to the floor when she discovered the break-in in progress.

Police said the woman was at a neighbor's house on East View Avenue when she noticed an unfamiliar car in her driveway. When she went to investigate, she saw a young woman sitting in the car, smoking a cigarette. Police identified the woman in the car as 25-year-old April Moretti, who was not charged.

According to police, Moretti told the woman that her boyfriend was on the property trying to find landscaping work. The woman, however, noticed that the side door to the house was open but she remembered closing it before leaving.

The woman entered her house and saw Nardolillo exiting her bedroom with a laptop and a box of jewelry. He knocked the woman to the floor and fled the scene with Moretti. The laptop was dropped during the altercation, police said, but he made off with the jewelry box.

The homeowner managed to get the license plate of the suspect vehicle.

During the subsequent investigation, police were able to identify Nardolillo and Moretti as suspects. Cranston Police obtained an arrest warrant for Nardolillo, who was being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions for an unrelated breaking and entering case in Warwick. They also matched his fingerprints to prints taken from another breaking and entering that occurred on Uxbridge Street.

Nardolillo was charged while he was already at the ACI being held without bail as a probation violator.Β

β€œI would also like to applaud the efforts of Officer John Rocchio and Detective Paul Bessette for their investigative efforts in this investigation in securing what turned out to be a solid case against Mr. Nardolillo," Ryan said.
