Rhode Island National Grid Names New President
Terry Sobolewski replaces Tim Horan as the head of Rhode Island National Grid.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Island National Grid announced Tuesday that Terry Sobolewski has been named as the company's new president. Sobolewski replaces Tim Horan, who has been promoted to a national-level position within the company. Horan has served as Rhode Island's National Grid President for the past eight years.
There are currently around 270,000 gas and nearly 500,000 electric customers who use National Grid across the state.
"Our Rhode Island customers expect us to flawlessly deliver the core services they rely on every day and they expect solutions to help them manage their energy needs going forward," Sobolewski said. "There are new challenges facing our industry every day, and this is an exciting time to demonstrate our commitment to Rhode Island’s clean energy transition."

He is currently the chief customer officer and senior vice president at National Grid Rhode Island, and is expected to start the transition into his new role in April.
During January's gas outage in Newport, Sobolewksi stepped into a leadership role after Horan suffered a medical emergency during a press conference and collapsed.

Horan will be transitioning into a national-level position, which the company says focuses on "safety, health, and the environment for both the U.S. and U.K." He said his eight years leading Rhode Island has been an honor.
"Serving our customers alongside the 950 employees we have in Rhode Island has been one of the great honors of my career," Horan said. "We have made significant strides during my tenure – from increasing our investments in Rhode Island’s energy infrastructure to delivering more support for our most vulnerable customers and moving Rhode Island forward towards its clean energy goals — I’m proud to have been a part of this team and all we’ve accomplished together."
During his time as president, Horan oversaw several major projects in the state, including the construction of the new South Street power substation in Providence and the plans for an offshore wind farm off the coast of Block Island.
Excited to have Terry Sobolewski @tmsobs leading our team in #RI ahead. Honored to have worked alongside @TimHoranNG https://t.co/ncEllhNfFS
