Neglect A Factor In 1-Year-Old Cranston Infant's Death: DCYF
Neglect contributed to the death of a 1-year-old child in Cranston, according to the RI Department of Children, Youth and Families.
CRANSTON, RI — Neglect was determined to be a contributing factor in the death of an infant from Cranston, the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) said Friday.
DCYF officials said the incident resulting in the 1-year-old's death happened on Jan. 19. Because of confidentiality laws, the agency said it could not reveal specifics about the case.
DCYF officials said they had no prior involvement with the infant's family. Officials with the agency said they notified the Rhode Island Office of the Child Advocate about the incident.

DCYF issued a reminder that Rhode Islanders are required by law to report known or suspected cases of child abuse within 24 hours of becoming aware of an incident. Residents can report incidents by calling 1-800-RI-CHILD.
