New Lane Shifts In Place On I-95 In Providence
Phase Four of construction is underway on the Oxford Street bridge near Thurbers Avenue.
PROVIDENCE, RI — The fourth phase of construction is underway on Providence's Oxford Sreet Bridge, just past Thurbers Avenue. The current split-lane pattern will be in place until August 16.
On the northbound side of Interstate 95, the highway is split into one lane on the left and three to the right. On the southbound side, there are two lanes to the left and three to the right, with the farthest lane to the right for Exit 18, Thurbers Avenue, only.

The rotating lane closures have been in place since July to allow crews to repair the bridge deck.

The Rhode Island Department of Health asked drivers not to change lanes or stop while driving through the construction zone, as doing so creates more traffic backups and increases the chance of causing a crash.
