Obituary: Ellen T. (Smith) Simmerer, 87

Ellen T. (Smith) Simmerer, 87, of Cranston, passed away on January 7, 2015. She was the wife of the late William Scott and Bernard W. Simmerer. Born in Central Falls, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Burns) Smith. Ellen worked as a sales assistant at the former Oaklawn Pharmacy, before her retirement.

She is survived her daughters; Kathleen Kelly and her husband Joseph of Pawtucket, and Ellyn Scott of Warwick. Ellen was the cherished grandmother of Shawn and Neal Kelly; great grandmother of Mia Kelly; sister of Elizabeth Lanoue, and the late Gertrude Hoogasian, Barbara Mitchell, and James and Lois Smith; step-mother of Thomas Simmerer, and the late Michael and Patrick Simmerer; step-grandmother of Thomas, Mark, and Brandon Simmerer.

Her funeral will be held from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston at 10:00 a.m. VISITING HOURS: Sunday 5:00-8:00 p.m. Burial will be held in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
