Police ID Dyer Ave. Shooting Victim, 22; Suspect Sought
Police said the shooter and the victim know each other.

The shooting on Dyer Avenue Saturday night was not a random incident and the victim, 22, is expected to survive his injuries, according to police.
The shooting happened shortly after 8 p.m. and the victim, identified as Fuad Yusuf, 22, was found just inside his doorway at 341 Dyer Ave. suffering from gunshot wounds, said Capt. Sean Carmody of Cranston police.
Police said Yusuf was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for non life-threatening gunshot wounds, one to the left forearm and another to his right shoulder.

“The investigation is in the preliminary stages but initial witness accounts indicate Mr. Yusuf was inside 341 Dyer, exited and approached the suspect vehicle,” Carmody said. ”Mr. Yusuf knocked on the window, as the driver’s door swung open the suspect began firing.”
Detectives have confirmed the identity of the suspected shooter with whom “Mr. Yusuf [has] a prior relationship and there is no ongoing threat to the public,” Carmody said.
