1 Year 1 Day In Federal Prison For Providence Pistol Plea
The masked man tossed a pistol behind a building while fleeing police, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A Dominican National was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison for possessing a pistol, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Luis Alberto De Los Santos, 23, had pleaded guilty in February to possessing a pistol as a prohibited person in Providence, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a media release.
In April 2025, the Providence police "observed De Los Santos with a group of individuals in the Hartford neighborhood," according to the release.

"De Los Santos, who was wearing a ski mask, fled from police with the firearm before discarding the weapon behind a building and continuing to flee," the release said. "Through their investigation, law enforcement discovered the defendant had been in possession of a .22-caliber pistol."

A citizen of the Dominican Republic, De Los Santos entered the United States on a travel visa in 2021 and was required to depart the U.S. in 2022, according to the release.
